The New England Patriots have cut running back Tyler Gaffney, thinning out an already questionable depth chart at the position. Gaffney was a 6th round pick out of Stanford by the Carolina Panthers, but was cut in his first summer with the team on an injury distinction. The Patriots claimed Gaffney and the running back has spent the past two seasons on the team's injured reserve.
It's clear that his time just ran out.
The Patriots no longer have a consistent between-the-tackles rusher on the roster. Dion Lewis, Brandon Bolden, James White, and the recently signed Donald Brown provide the entire depth chart.
