Welcome to another edition of Musket Fire’s Remembering the Patriot series in which the writer draws a random 21st century New England Patriots player from memory and remembers his contributions to the franchise. This morning, we’re taking a look back at the career of former Patriots defensive tackle Ted Washington.
Washington is notable because the 6-foot-5, 375 pounder (he has been measured as high as 400 pounds) managed to maintain a starting role as an NFL defensive tackle up to the age of 39. In all his 17 years in the NFL, he only played one season with the Patriots, and he made it count: the super season of 2003 that culminated in a Super Bowl XXXVIII victory.
