Former New England Patriots wide receiver Reche Caldwell died after being shot in Tampa Bay on Saturday, TMZ reported. He was 41.
Caldwell appeared in 16 games (14 starts) for New England in 2006. He made 61 catches for 760 yards (12.5 yards per reception) and four touchdowns.
The former University of Florida star played six seasons in the NFL for the San Diego Chargers (2002-05), Patriots (2006) and Washington Redskins (2007). He made 152 catches for 1,851 yards (12.2 yards per reception) and 11 touchdowns during his career.
TMZ reported that Caldwell’s mother Deborah Caldwell confirmed the death and the former receiver was shot in the chest and leg.
