Apparently, the Bears are alright with cleaning house and there’s a good chance tight Martellus Bennett could be next on the block. The New England Patriots might be interested in the pass catching tight end.
The Patriots went out and got Scott Chandler last year from the Buffalo Bills. He was a thorn in the Patriots’ side for years but he disappeared down the stretch. The Patriots were comfortable with hybrid tight end/offensive lineman Michael Williams, Rob Gronkowski and Chandler, but I think they might be ready to move on from Chandler, especially if Bennett becomes available.
Bennett would easily be the team’s move at tight end, because in my opinion, he’s a poor man’s Jimmy Graham: doesn’t really block that much but can do some things with the ball in his hands.
