Pats notebook: Tom Brady's TD chase not the focus

FOXBORO — Stats can be for winners, too.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has 399 career touchdown passes and will attempt to join Peyton Manning (533), Brett Favre (508) and Dan Marino (420) in the 400 club on Sunday at Gillette Stadium against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees (398) might get there, too.

Pats coach Bill Belichick, who famously coined the phrase “stats are for losers,” didn’t appear to be overly excited about Brady’s impending milestone.

“Look, Tom is a great player,” Belichick said yesterday.
