Gil Santos, the legendary former play-by-play voice of the Patriots, died yesterday.
WBZ, where Santos also served as a morning sports radio anchor for nearly four decades, announced that he died on his 78th birthday.
Santos began his Patriots broadcasting career in 1966, first as a color analyst and then taking over play-by-play duties in 1971.
