Patriots' Super Bowl run ends with another dead-end in Denver

DENVER — The Patriots’ dream to repeat as Super Bowl champions has come to an end.

The Broncos beat the Pats, 20-18, today at Sports Authority Field at Mile High to advance to Super Bowl 50.

Peyton Manning got the better of Tom Brady for the second time in three playoff matchups and the third consecutive time overall. Brady was 27-of-56 for 310 yards, one touchdown and two second-quarter interceptions, while Manning completed 17-of-32 passes for 176 yards and a pair of scores to tight end Owen Daniels.

The Patriots pressed while trying to erase their 20-12 deficit in the fourth quarter, but the gamble didn’t pay off.
