With eight seconds on the clock and the game hanging in the balance, it was obvious where Cam Newton wanted to go with the football.

He’d already connected with Jakobi Meyers 11 times at MetLife Stadium, and in an offense starved for viable options, the second-year receiver had been the guy all night long.

All eyes were on Meyers. Still, he wiggled free.

Meyers found a soft spot between three Jets defenders, hunkered down and hauled in a 20-yard pass to move the ball into Nick Folk’s field goal range.
