Parting with Hunter Henry could provide the most salary cap relief ($10.5 million) of any player on the Patriots roster.
Wisely, New England reportedly won’t be going that route. According to Jordan Schultz, Bill Belichick has no plans to make the 28-year-old tight end a cap casualty.
“#Patriots are not expected to release TE Hunter Henry, sources tell @theScore,” Schultz tweeted. “The team values him as a player and as a leader, while new OC Bill O’Brien plans to better maximize his pass-catching ability.”
That makes a ton of sense. Henry is part of the solution, not the problem.
