The New England Patriots won the coin toss against the Tennessee Titans and elected to receiver the opening kickoff with the intent of putting up an early lead and preventing the Titans from running the ball with 6’3, 250-pound bruiser Derrick Henry.
The gamble did not pay off.
New England and Tennessee exchanged punts for the first three drives of the game before the Patriots lost contain of quarterback Marcus Mariota. Mariota scrambled down the field and found the open receivers before finding rookie wide receiver Corey Davis in the back of the end zone over Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler for a 7-0 lead.
