Had the New England Patriots gotten their wish, Malik Cunningham would still be on their practice squad.
As head coach Bill Belichick pointed out on during his Wednesday morning press conference, the team had tried to keep Cunningham around but ultimately wasn’t able to do it. The lure of getting a fresh start with another organization and within in a new offensive system was simply too big.
As a result, he left the team on Tuesday to sign with the Baltimore Ravens’ 53-man roster. Belichick sees why the move makes sense from Cunningham’s point of view.
