FOXBORO — The rough spring for Dwayne Allen has ended, and the tight end appears to be back in form as training camp begins.
Traded from the Indianapolis Colts to the Patriots this offseason, Allen was plagued with drops during OTA and minicamp practices. However, especially since donning the pads, the 6-foot-3, 265-pounder has begun to show his true value.
During today's third padded practice of training camp on the fields behind Gillette Stadium, Allen again exhibited excellent blocking skills, particularly in individual drills. Those workouts were part fundamental work, part competition, but Allen clearly looked in his element from a size, strength and technique standpoint.
