Patriots targeting Lions assistant Terrell Williams as their next defensive coordinator, per report

The New England Patriots appear to be zeroing in on their next defensive coordinator.

According to a report by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the team of head coach Mike Vrabel is “targeting” Detroit Lions assistant Terrell Williams for the open position. Williams and Vrabel previously worked together with the Tennessee Titans.

Williams, 50, went into coaching in the late 1990s. Starting out at the college level, he made the jump to the NFL in 2012 as defensive line coach for the then-Oakland Las Vegas Raiders. After three years in Oakland, he was hired by the Miami Dolphins for the same position.
