FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is fond of saying that outside of points, no statistic correlates more to winning than turnovers.
This is emerging as an Achilles' heel for the 2016 Patriots defense, which is struggling to produce turnovers at a level not seen in more than a decade in a Belichick-coached team.
“It’s something we need to do a better job of,” Belichick acknowledged after Sunday’s 31-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, in which the Patriots committed two turnovers and didn’t force any.
