A short time after locking up Pro Bowl place kicker Stephen Gostkowski, the Patriots have done the same for his special teams colleague, Ryan Allen.
The Pats have signed the 25-year-old punter to a three-year contract extension, Allen's agent, Sean Stellato, confirmed today.
Allen, who was to be in the final year of the rookie deal he signed in 2013, averaged 46.4 yards per punt last season, good for sixth in the AFC. He had a net average of 39.9. Of his 66 punts, 25 were downed inside the 20-yard line.
Undrafted, Ryan was signed in 2013 as a free agent out of Louisiana Tech, where he twice won the Ray Guy Award as the nation's best punter.
