The Patriots announced a pair of transactions late this afternoon, as the team inked first-round draft pick Malcom Brown and released veteran tight end Fred Davis.
Brown was an All-American defensive lineman at Texas and the 32nd overall pick of the first round. The deal is for four years with a team option for a fifth. The total value of the four years is expected to be around $7 million based on Brown's salary slot.
Brown is expected to compete for playing time on a unit that is looking to fill the void left by All-Pro Vince Wilfork.
