Bill Belichick has a third kicker under contract.
The Patriots signed Roberto Aguayo to the practice squad on Saturday afternoon, so he’ll kick alongside Justin Rohrwasser. Nick Folk remains the only one on the active roster.
Aguayo was Tampa Bay’s second-round pick in 2016 — one of the highest kickers ever drafted — but he made just 71% of his field goals as a rookie and was cut after one season. He’s bounced around the league since then.
“I think any time you can bring a good player in like that and add good players to your team, you should do so,” special teams coordinator Cam Achord said on Saturday afternoon.
