The Patriots have closed down their draft room.
They traded their two seventh-round picks (Nos. 216 and 239) to the Cowboys to select UCLA tackle Conor McDermott with the 211th pick. Barring a surprising trade, that'd end their weekend.
McDermott is 6-foot-8 and 307 pounds, so he has ideal size to play tackle. However, the universal knock on him is his strength, so he'll need to bulk up if he is going to earn any playing time.
With the trade, it looks like the Patriots identified McDermott as someone they'd like to bring to camp, and they didn't want to lose him before their final chance to pick.
