When the New England Patriots signed Rhamondre Stevenson to a four-year, $36 million contract extension in June, they made their intentions clear. The team under the new leadership of Jerod Mayo and Eliot Wolf viewed the young running back as a key piece of its offense moving forward.
From a contractual perspective, that will remain true until 2026. What his role is going to look like moving forward, however, is a different story.
Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, after all, was yet another bad outing for Stevenson. While he performed well from a statistical perspective, carrying the ball 12 times for 60 yards and a touchdown and also hauling in a 13-yard reception, he once again struggled in the ball security department.
