Patriots running back prospects: Guys like Alex Collins don't test well at the combine, and that's OK

Former Arkansas running back Alex Collins went into the 2016 NFL Combine as one of the draft's top running back prospects and one of the best perceived fits for the New England Patriots.

He then proceeded to post lackluster results in the 40-yard dash (4.59 seconds) and vertical jump (28.5 inches), both indicators that his top-end speed and explosiveness aren't great attributes.

With that said, he's still one of the best running backs in the 2016 draft class and a good fit for the Patriots.

As much as the combine is a spectacle -- and one that still matters when weighing physical attributes -- measurements in shorts only go so far.
