Patriots' run D primed to get boost with Alan Branch's return

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots' run defense is on the verge of getting a 350-pound boost, with Alan Branch saying he is ready to return to action from a knee injury that has sidelined him for the final three games of the regular season.

"I feel like I'm good to go," Branch said Wednesday. "If if I'm out there or not, that's not my call. We'll see."

Branch's potential return for Saturday night's divisional-round playoff game against the Tennessee Titans is timely, as stopping the run -- which helps set up the Titans' play-action passing game -- has been a primary point of emphasis.
