Every so often you get a reminder that, yes, football is indeed a game of inches. New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk found that out the hard way on Sunday.
Late in his team’s Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins, the second-round draft pick appeared to make the biggest play of his young career. With the Patriots trailing by five points, he hauled in a Jacoby Brissett pass in the back of the end zone.
But while Polk got his left foot down in bounds, his right heel touching the boundary line prevented the touchdown that was called from standing.
