FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ final game of the 2020 season featured two long-awaited milestones for one rookie pass-catcher.
After going 16 weeks without a single reception, tight end Devin Asiasi tallied two in Sunday’s 28-14 win over the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium, including a fourth-quarter touchdown that put the Patriots ahead for good.
“That was definitely a great feeling,” Asiasi said in a postgame news conference. “I felt everybody with me in that moment. It was definitely a special moment for me.”
The breakthrough performance capped an underwhelming rookie season for Asiasi, who, before Sunday, had not caught a pass since his final game at UCLA.
