Patriots reportedly waive cornerback Marco Wilson after struggling against Rams

The New England Patriots are set to waive cornerback Marco Wilson, as first reported by EPSN’s Adam Schefter.

Wilson had played 32 percent of the team’s defensive snaps this season, primarily serving as a depth cornerback along the outside.

Playing nine defensive snaps on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, Wilson struggled in coverage allowing two catches for 33 yards against Puka Nacua. Wilson was also in the area as a zone defender on a 25-yard completion to Nacua.

The move likely opens a roster spot for fellow cornerback Alex Austin, who’s 21-day activation window off of injured reserve closes on Wednesday.
