Patriots reportedly host free-agent defensive tackle Xavier Williams for workout

With defensive tackle Beau Allen among training camp’s recent absentees, the New England Patriots continue to monitor the market.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the organization hosted veteran free agent Xavier Williams on a tryout Wednesday.

Williams, 28, has appeared in 44 career games and notched six starts since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2015. He’s recorded 83 combined tackles, three sacks as well as three forced fumbles across stops with the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.

A Super Bowl LIV champion, Williams spent time on injured reserve in 2019 due to a high-ankle sprain.
