The Patriots had a busy day on the transaction wire today, including the decision to cut Michigan rookie free agent Devin Gardner.
Gardner, who played quarterback at Michigan, was thought to be one of the more interesting of the Patriots' signings. The 6-foot-4, 216-pounder was all set to convert to wide receiver in order to try to make it in the NFL. The experiment brought back memories of another quarterback-turned-receiver that the Patriots signed — Julian Edelman.
Gardner, who started 27 games at quarterback for the Wolverines, also started four at receiver in college.
But apparently that won't happen — at least in Foxboro.
