Perhaps known best for his heroics off the field, Darius Fleming was released by the Patriots today, according to a source.
Fleming, who saved a woman from a burning car in January, had a limited role at linebacker and played some special teams in his two years with the team, bouncing back and forth between the active roster and practice squad. In 11 games over the last two seasons, Fleming made 10 tackles.
Fleming made a goodbye post on Instagram thanking the organization.
In January, Fleming made headlines by pulling a woman from a smoking car, kicking through a passenger side window to save her.
