After the Patriots flurry of free-agent signings this year, two of their acquisitions from a year ago were released as defensive tackle Beau Allen and wide receiver Marqise Lee were both let go.
ESPN’s Field Yates reported the news and tweeted:
“The Patriots have released WR Marqise Lee and DT Beau Allen, per source. Lee opted out of last season, while Allen was unable to play due to injury.”
Allen, a 29-year-old who played six seasons in Philadelphia and Tampa Bay, was signed to replace Danny Shelton, with a two-year, $7 million deal with more guaranteed money than any other free agent last offseason.
