Patriots reach injury settlement with undrafted defensive end John Morgan III

For John Morgan III, the stint on injured reserve has ended one afternoon after it began.

The New England Patriots reached an injury settlement with the rookie defensive end on Wednesday, according to the NFL transaction wire. Now set to return to waivers before becoming free agent, the move allows him the opportunity to take the field in 2024.

Morgan, 24, had reverted to injured reserve after going through unclaimed on Tuesday. He was sidelined from practice to begin the week and left the 90-man roster with the injury designation.

The 6-foot-1, 252-pounder landed in Foxborough as part of the organization’s undrafted class in May and carried a partially guaranteed contract.
