It's been quite a long time since the New England Patriots had a true number-one wide receiver.
Whether the definition extends to Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, or Randy Moss, New England certainly hasn't had an elite wideout to target since the start of the new decade. And without a superstar at tight end or running back, the offense has lacked explosiveness all the while.
