FOXBORO — The Patriots all stood side by side along their sideline during the national anthem today.
Coach Bill Belichick joined in the line with his players, a week after 16 of them knelt during the playing of the anthem in protest of critical comments about NFL players by President Donald Trump.
Today the Patriots followed through on Devin McCourty’s midweek prediction that they would be united during the anthem. Most players stood with right hands over their hearts and left hands on the shoulder of their adjoining teammate.
Long snapper Joe Cardona, an active duty member of the Navy, stood at attention during the song.
