Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that veteran OT Sebastian Vollmer’s contract tolled for the 2017 season after he spent the entire year on the Patriots’ physically-unable-to-perform list.
This means that he is still under contract with the team for next season. However, Pelissero adds that the Patriots still plan to release him in the coming days.
According to Jeff Howe, retirement remains an option for Vollmer this offseason.
New England placed him on the reserve/PUP list coming out of the preseason last year.
Vollmer, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2009.
