FOXBORO — By NFL standards, Patriots wide receiver Reggie Wayne is closing in on an AARP membership.
That’s probably why the 36-year-old was so excited yesterday to reenter the chaotic, cram-at-all-costs stage of his career. Wayne quickly strolled through the locker room while trying to get to a meeting a few minutes early when he stopped for a brief moment to break down his first practice.
“Like a rookie,” Wayne beamed. “They’re throwing a lot at me right now. I’m not getting very much sleep. I feel like a rookie all over again.”
Wayne has gone full-tilt while trying to learn the playbook, which he said Tuesday was incomparable to any from his previous 14 seasons.
