FOXBORO — Linebacker Jerod Mayo said it won’t be bittersweet Thursday when the Patriots unveil their fourth Super Bowl banner.
Though Mayo wasn’t in uniform for Super Bowl XLIX, every soul in the locker room knew he was an active participant during the Patriots’ championship run. He went down in Week 6 with a torn patellar tendon, but the six-time captain spent plenty of time at Gillette Stadium attending meetings and helping with film review.
So, while Mayo stands side by side with his teammates during the pregame festivities, he said he’ll be thinking about the Patriots’ accomplishments instead of what could have been.
