Patriots Notebook: Jimmy Garoppolo struggles in workout

FOXBORO — The Jimmy Garoppolo hype machine took a hit yesterday.

Garoppolo was intercepted five times in his final 31 throws during 11-on-11 work at practice, which signified the great and all-important reminder that he’s no Tom Brady. Of course, that much already was obvious, but with Garoppolo slated to start the first four games of the regular season, the Patriots have to make sure they can stay afloat until Brady’s return.

Garoppolo’s greatest issues occurred during an extended period when the Patriots exclusively ran the two-minute drill on adjacent fields. The second-year quarterback was 15-of-25 with four picks on one side while Brady was 17-of-20 with one interception on the other.
