The Patriots lost two key defensive pieces when linebacker Dont’a Hightower and safety Patrick Chung opted out of the 2020 NFL season due to COVID-19. Without the two veterans, the Patriots have been forced to rely on younger players to attempt to fill the void. As it turns out, Hightower and Chung might not be in Gillette Stadium or on the practice fields but they’re still lending a helping hand.
Over the last two weeks, Patriots rookies Kyle Dugger and Anfernee Jennings said they’ve been in contact with Hightower and Chung this season.
