The New England Patriots were one of the best teams in the NFL in reaching the opponent’s red zone in Week 1: they managed to go beyond the Cincinnati Bengals’ 20-yard line on four occasions last Sunday, which tied them for eighth best in the league.
However, their production in that part of the field was lacking. Only once did the Patriots turn one of their red zone trips into a touchdown, the seventh worst such success rate on opening weekend.
Unsurprisingly, head coach Jerod Mayo said that red zone production will be a point of emphasis for the team heading into its Week 2 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
