The New England Patriots announced the offensive coordinator search would begin this week, and they’re starting in-house with tight ends coach Nick Caley.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the interview is expected to take place on Wednesday, which is a day after Caley interviewed for the New York Jets’ offensive coordinator vacancy.
Belichick’s tendency to hire in-house should give Caley an inside track on landing the job. Of course, Bill O’Brien is seemingly still the team’s No. 1 option, if an agreement can come together.
He’s a former head coach that already has a bevy of experience as an offensive play-caller.
