Patriots inform veteran TE Clay Harbor of his release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots have informed veteran tight end Clay Harbor of their intentions to release him Monday, a source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.

Harbor, who signed a two-year contract as a free agent in the offseason, had played in three of the team's first four games. His primary contributions came on special teams (39 total snaps), while he had 25 snaps on offense and didn't register an official statistic.

With Harbor's release, the Patriots trim their tight-end ranks to Rob Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett, AJ Derby and recently signed Greg Scruggs.
