FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots hosted free-agent cornerback Leonard Johnson on a visit at Gillette Stadium on Monday, as they keep emergency lists fresh at a position where depth on the roster is thin.
The 5-foot-10, 202-pound Johnson is a fourth-year player out of Iowa State who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2012-2014. Johnson played under Bill Belichick confidant Greg Schiano at Tampa Bay in 2012 and 2013, as his primary role was as a nickelback.
Johnson played in 48 games (17 starts) with the Buccaneers, with whom he signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012.
