FOXBORO — On the Arkansas scale, the Patriots hope Deatrich Wise is more Trey Flowers than Jake Bequette.
The Pats selected the defensive lineman yesterday in the fourth round of the NFL draft with the 131st overall pick, as coach Bill Belichick again tapped into one of his preferred programs over the past half-decade. Now, it’s up to Wise to prove that he can meet his potential after his stock plummeted due to a frustrating, injury-plagued senior season.
The 6-foot-5, 274-pounder again intrigued teams in January when he was potentially the most dominant defensive player at the East-West Shrine Game.
