New England Patriots center Jake Andrews' season is over before it even started.
The second-year offensive lineman had been on the physically unable to perform list entering training camp. However, on Monday, the Patriots announced they were putting the former fourth-round draft pick on injured reserve, which effectively ends his season.
Under the new IR rule, a player would need to be placed on IR on the final cutdown date for the 53-man roster or during the season. Unless Andrews is released on an injury settlement with the Patriots, there's no way for him to return.
