Patriots bring QB Ricky Stanzi in for workout

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots usually enter spring camps with a third quarterback and one possibility to fill that role this year, Ricky Stanzi, worked out for the club at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday.

Stanzi entered the NFL as a high fifth-round draft choice (135th overall) of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011. The first career game in which he was active (as a backup) came against the Patriots on Nov. 21, 2011.

The 6-foot-4, 228-pound Stanzi, who played in college at Iowa, was released by the Chiefs toward the end of the preseason in 2013.
