Patriots add veteran to secondary

The Patriots continue to add depth to their cornerback position, signing veteran Tarell Brown to a one-year deal, according to a source.

Brown, 30, is an eight-year veteran who played 114 career games, starting 61. He has 11 interceptions. He played his first seven seasons in San Francisco, contributing to some good Niners defenses from 2011-13. He played last season in Oakland, starting 14 games without an interception. He ended the season on injured reserve with a foot injury.

Brown will likely compete for a backup spot. He is among a number of newcomers in the secondary, including Robert McClain and Bradley Fletcher.
