Patriots activate Tyquan Thornton, elevate Garrett Gilbert for Sunday’s game

Tyquan Thornton is back.

The New England Patriots rookie receiver was placed on injured reserve at the start of the regular season, but was activated on Saturday and will dress for his first bit of regular season action on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

QB Garrett Gilbert was elevated from the practice squad and will likely back up rookie Bailey Zappe against Detroit with Brian Hoyer on injured reserve with a concussion.

With Jakobi Meyers also reportedly making his return after missing the last two games with a knee injury, New England’s receivers room will get a boost at a crucial time with QB Mac Jones sidelined.
