The New England Patriots will soon be on to 2023.
After a season-ending loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, it’s wrap-up day at Gillette Stadium as the 2022 team packs its bags and calls it a year.
So how will the team look in 2023? That much is unclear. There are a lot of decisions to be made in free agency, especially with guys like Jakobi Meyers. Then there’s the NFL Draft in a few months.
But with the season just wrapped hours ago, here’s the current status of the roster, including a look at who’s a lock to return next year -- and who might leave the Patriots this offseason:
Quarterback
Locks - Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe
Potential retirement - Brian Hoyer
Free agents - Garrett Gilbert
The only question here is whether Hoyer (who’s 37 and suffered a major concussion) will be back -- especially after it appears that Zappe will be the No.
