The New England Patriots’ latest round of reported roster departures includes a 2018 draft choice.
New England is waiving linebacker Christian Sam, according to Nick Underhill of the Athletic.
Selected in the sixth round last April out of Arizona State, Sam spent the entirety of his rookie regular season on injured reserve after a preseason that saw him finish with 12 tackles and an interception. Special teams and a weak-side coverage role were the draft projection for Sam, who started New England’s August finale Thursday night versus the New York Giants.
The Patriots are also waiving wide receiver Damoun Patterson and offensive lineman Martez Ivey, as NESN’s Doug Kyed and Underhill reported, respectively.
