Passing on Abdul Carter? Former GM floats ‘tone-setting’ move for Patriots

Would the New England Patriots pass on one of the NFL Draft’s No. 1 prospects? That’s what former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum thinks they should do.

On Tuesday, Tannenbaum released a new mock draft, which he said comes with a twist. Instead of projecting what he thinks will happen, the former Jets GM revealed what he would do with each pick.

That strategy resulted in a surprise for New England at No. 4. Tannenbaum’s mock still had Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter, arguably the top prospect this year, on the board.
