The New England Patriots are in the middle of a busy week, and one of the moves made by the team was releasing offensive lineman Caleb Benenoch: on Tuesday, it parted ways with the 25-year-old which in turn opened up a roster spot that was later used to re-sign safety Jordan Richards. Benenoch had originally joined the Patriots two weeks earlier following a free agency workout, but did not appear in a game for the club.
Despite his unsuccessful stint in New England, it did not take long for Benenoch to find a new home in the NFL: the Carolina Panthers claimed him off the waiver wire on Wednesday to fill a spot on its 53-man team that was vacated when ex-Patriot Chris Hogan was placed on injured reserve.
