Ohio State hires former NFL head coach as defensive coordinator

The Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to hire Matt Patricia for their defensive coordinator position. This was confirmed by multiple media outlets on Wednesday.

Patricia most recently served as a senior defensive assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023. He is perhaps best known for being the defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots from 2012-2017. He was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams while working with the Pats.

He has experience in the college ranks, dating back to 1996 when he was a graduate assistant for RPI. He was the defensive line coach for Amherst from 1999-2000 and then an offensive graduate assistant at Syracuse from 2001-2003.
